Guya Accornero 

Guya Accornero is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (Iscte-IUL) and a researcher at the Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte). From 2018 to 2022, she coordinated the Social Movements Research Network of the Council of European Studies (CES), and from 2019 to 2022, she led the project ‘HOPES – HOusing PErspectives and Struggles. Futures of housing movements, policies, and dynamics in Lisbon and beyond’. Her research interests include the role of social movements in the production of knowledge and the creation of new urban identities, digital activism, how activism impacts people’s life trajectories, bottom-up processes in regime changes, and the right to housing and the city. Her research has been published in journals such as the Journal of Common Market Studies, Housing Studies, Current Sociology, Social Movement Studies, Mobilization, West European Politics, and Democratization. Her monograph (The Revolution before the Revolution) and the book she edited with Olivier Fillieule (Social Movement Studies in Europe) were published by Berghahn Books in 2016.
