Women and Old Age: Respect or Prejudice?

Debate based on the book “Women and old age: respect or prejudice”, which contains a collection of testimonies, which made it possible to cross-reference gender issues in aging with different professions, sexual orientations and regions of origin of the women involved.

Objectives: Deconstruction of stereotypes associated with aging; valorization of women’s knowledge and wisdom accumulated over generations; preservation of collective memory to build a more dignified future that respects Human Rights.

Brief biographies of the speakers:

Teresa Sales

She has a degree in Art History from FCSH at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and has a Specialization course in Gender Equality from the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas. She is coordinator of the “Memory and Feminisms” Project, in its various phases; member of the UMAR board; member of the group of founders of the Ana de Castro Osório Specialized Library. She is an activist in cultural associations, interventions in seminars and conferences and one of theco-authors of the Feminist Routes in the city of Lisbon.
